Counter Threat Group  currently conduct 3 phases of international Bodyguard, VIP Protection, Close Protection Officer and Specialist Training. These phases with their quality and comprehensive content of training, are not available anywhere else in the world outside of the very best government agency's bodyguard training programmes.

The 3 phases available are:

• 3-week Bodyguard, VIP Protection, Close Protection Officer Training Course, for those requiring comprehensive specialist training to an international standard, as either a professional refresher, or else for individuals who are entering the industry.

• 10-day Advanced Bodyguard Training Course, for Bodyguards wishing to undergo professional development towards Team Leader and / or high risk operational positions within the industry or for operatives within existing teams. High level training and assessment direct from former Royal Family, Prime Minister and Presidential Bodyguard Team Leaders in anti-ambush driving and advanced weapons and tactics training

• Bespoke / Tailored Courses, for existing Officers and teams of (private, corporate, police and military) Bodyguards, Close Protection Officers, Special Operations and Counter-Terrorist Units. Previous bespoke training courses have included training for overseas Royal Family (Police and Military) Bodyguard Teams, Police Rescue Teams, also Oil and Gas Industry Security Teams and numerous rapid reaction forces (security, medical, specialist)

Our training programmes differs greatly from those offered by other providers.

We do:

• Provide tuition and assessment in every skill and knowledge module required by the SIA for UK Close Protection Officer / Bodyguard training. Also many other modules (firearms, driving, self defence, EOD and Advanced Counter Surveillance subjects that are well over and above the minimum standard most often found.

• Employ only fully qualified trainers with extensive training, or operational experience from Secret Service, Police, Military, Royalty and Diplomatic Protection Groups and the civilian Close Protection / Bodyguard Industry. This ensures that all training is not only realistic and practical, but also remains up to date, with continuing input resulting from diverse operational experience from existing professional Bodyguards at all levels.

• Include overseas as well as UK based training and exercises, including an overseas deployment package (to Prague in the Czech Republic) for full 9mm Pistol & SMG training at our police and military specification ranges. This prepares our graduates for employment not only in the UK, but also in any environment & threat level worldwide. The ability to plan, prepare and execute an international move (ahead of, or with the client), combined with the ability to liaise and cooperate with Customs, Police, Intelligence, Local Authorities and so on, are the hallmarks of the highest caliber Close Protection Specialist / Bodyguard.

• Conduct the training programme in an environment that reflects the reality of a Close Protection Officer / Bodyguard deployed with a client (accommodation, catering, transport, daily routine and duties). This best prepares the successful graduate for immediate deployment onto live employment, without need for further training and preparation.

NOTE, in addition to the modules stipulated by the SIA, Counter Threat Group Specialist Security also include the following extra training modules in the full 3-week Course:

• Firearms Training, specific to the role of the international Bodyguard, VIP Protection, Close Protection Officer. Our training is conducted at military live fire indoor and outdoor ranges, used by EU Police and Special Forces.
  
  Candidates are taught effective and proven methods for protection duties when operating with 9mm pistol and SMG, including VIP Protection skills & procedures developed by UK, USA and Israeli Secret Services, also Diplomatic Protection and SWAT Officers of the United States DEA and FBI.

• Trauma Awareness and advanced medical skills training. Although basic First Aid certification is all that is required for UK licensing purposes, we know that clients (and Team Members with whom a new Bodyguard, VIP Protection, Close Protection Officer will be deployed) demand a far higher standard of medical skills from a professional Close Protection Officer / Bodyguard. This is provided within all Counter Threat Group Bodyguard training courses.

• Advanced, Defensive, Offensive and Anti-Ambush Driver Training. Theory and live practical training is conducted at our dedicated driver training area. Candidates are guided through an intensive training package that starts with 1, 2, 3 and multiple vehicle drills, building up to full speed ramming, J-turns and anti-ambush techniques.
  
  NOTE Counter Threat Group has the distinction of being the sole dedicated International Training and Demonstration Team for Ford MENA (Middle East North Africa), providing training to overseas law enforcement and military personnel on behalf of the Ford Special Projects division. We are acknowledged international experts in the disciplines of advanced and anti-ambush driver training.

• Unarmed self defensive, control, arrest and restraint training. Effective, practical techniques for defensive against and arrest of single, multiple, unarmed and armed assailants, drawn from various disciplines including UK Army CQB (Close Quarters Battle) skills, UK Police Control and Restraint techniques and Krav Maga, a system developed by the Israeli Secret Service for VIP Protection & Anti-Terrorist Teams deployed in high threat environments.

• IED (Improvised Explosive Devices) awareness, recognition and damage limitation skills. Comprehensive tuition, covering all known types of IED's, their component parts, triggering and anti-tamper methods, delivered by experts in this specialist discipline. The use of the "hidden threat" (IED's) is on the rise. From small devices aimed at individual clients, to road side devices used against civilian and military convoys (such as can currently be seen in Iraq), to the use of larger devices used to target economic and civilian targets (such as the London bombings in July 2005).
  
  The professional Close Protection Officer / Bodyguard must have a solid grounding in the recognition, detection, prevention and damage limitation of IED's. Suicide bomber awareness, IED & EOD mitigation methods are taught by Instructors from the DIgnitary Protection Unit Academy in Israel. These Instructors are recognised worldwide as being the leading authorities on IED & Suicide Bomber responses.

We do not:

• Include irrelevant content in the training programme. Modules such as "Killing (or Skills) House", "Hostage Rescue" and "Sniper", many of which appear in other training courses available, have in our opinion no place in a professional Close Protection training course, and so are not included. Such modules are only usually included to attract candidates with promises of excitement and 'realistic' experiences similar to that of the life of a Special Forces Solider or Specialist Police Officer. We would advise that there are no "short cuts" into such professions and that these activities are of little value to an aspiring or experienced international Bodyguard, VIP Protection, Close Protection Officer.

The international Bodyguard, VIP Protection, Close Protection Officer industry, represents one of the most rewarding, challenging and difficult professions in the world. "How do I apply for training as an international Bodyguard, VIP Protection, Close Protection Officer with Counter Threat Group?"

The cost of the full 3-week Bodyguard Training Course, is £3'500 GBP + VAT (at 17.5% £612'50, so total fee of £4'112.50)

The cost of the 10-day Advanced Bodyguard Training Course, is £1'500 GBP + VAT (at 17.5% £262.50, so total fee of £1'762.50)

The above course fees include all training, assessment, certification, equipment use, accommodation, food and flights.

DEPOSITS: £500 GBP per person is required for all individual bookings. Deposits are non-refundable.

There is also the option of including the Advanced Course modules, with (at the same time as) your basic 3-week CP Course. A reduction in fees for the Advanced Course of £500 if offered to candidates wishing to combine both the 3-week and Advanced Course. This is a popular option for candidates from overseas who wish to avoid having to take additional time to travel to the UK to attend both courses separately.
